This Privacy Policy explains how PriceStory (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use pricestory.in. It is written in compliance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 and, to the extent applicable, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011.
1. Who We Are (Data Fiduciary)
PriceStory is an independent price tracking and comparison service operated for the Indian market. For the purposes of the DPDP Act, 2023, PriceStory is the Data Fiduciary — the entity that determines the purpose and means of processing personal data.

2. What Data We Collect and Why
We collect minimal data. Here is exactly what we collect and the purpose:
a) Affiliate click tracking
When you click a product link on PriceStory, our redirect route (/go/[id]) records the timestamp and listing identifier of the click. We do not store your IP address, device fingerprint, or any information that identifies you as an individual in connection with these clicks.
Purpose: To verify affiliate commission attribution with Amazon Associates and Flipkart affiliate programmes, and to understand which products generate user interest.
b) Page view analytics
We record anonymous page view events (which page was visited and when). We do not collect personally identifiable information in these events. We do not use third-party analytics services such as Google Analytics on this site.
Purpose: To understand which content and product listings are most useful to visitors, so we can improve the service.
c) Blog view tracking
When you view a blog article, we record the article identifier and a timestamp. No personal identifier is stored.
Purpose: To identify which articles are most read and guide editorial decisions.
d) Data you actively provide
If you contact us by email (hello@pricestory.in), we will receive your email address and the content of your message. This is used solely to respond to your enquiry. We do not add you to any mailing list without your explicit consent.
We do not collect: name, postal address, phone number, payment information, government identification numbers, or any sensitive personal data as defined under Indian law. PriceStory does not require user registration or login to use any feature.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Under the DPDP Act, 2023, we process data on the following bases:
- Legitimate uses — anonymous analytics and affiliate click tracking are necessary to operate the service and fulfil our obligations under the Amazon Associates and Flipkart affiliate programmes.
- Consent — where we collect any data beyond anonymous operational data (e.g., if you email us), we process it to respond to the purpose for which you contacted us.
We do not process personal data for automated decision-making, profiling, or targeted advertising.
4. Third-Party Data Sharing
We share limited data with the following third parties:
- Amazon Associates Programme: When you click an affiliate link, Amazon's tracking systems record your visit for commission attribution. Amazon's own privacy policy governs what data Amazon collects on its platform after you click through. We encourage you to review Amazon's Privacy Notice.
- Flipkart Affiliate Programme: Similarly, clicking Flipkart links subjects you to Flipkart's own data practices. Please review Flipkart's Privacy Policy.
- Keepa API: Our price data is sourced from Keepa (a third-party data provider). Keepa does not receive information about individual users of PriceStory.
- Cloud infrastructure provider: PriceStory is hosted on a cloud compute platform. Our hosting provider processes server logs in the normal course of operating infrastructure. These logs may contain IP addresses for security and error-diagnosis purposes but are not used by us for any other purpose and are not linked to individual user profiles.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data to any third party for marketing purposes.
6. Data Retention
Anonymous analytics data (page views, blog views, affiliate click timestamps) is retained for up to 24 months from the date of collection, after which it is deleted or anonymised to the extent it has not already been anonymised.
Email correspondence is retained for as long as necessary to resolve the matter you raised, and for a period of up to 12 months thereafter for record-keeping purposes.
7. Your Rights Under the DPDP Act, 2023
As a Data Principal under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the following rights with respect to personal data we hold about you:
- Right to access information — you may request a summary of the personal data we hold about you and the processing activities we have carried out.
- Right to correction and erasure — you may request correction of inaccurate personal data or erasure of personal data where we no longer have a lawful basis to retain it.
- Right to grievance redressal — if you are dissatisfied with how we have handled your personal data, you may raise a grievance with us. If unresolved, you may escalate to the Data Protection Board of India, once constituted under the DPDP Act.
- Right of nomination — you may nominate another individual to exercise your data rights in the event of your death or incapacity.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@pricestory.in with the subject line “Data Rights Request”. We will respond within 30 days.
Given that PriceStory does not collect personally identifiable information from unauthenticated users, the practical scope of these rights is limited — we have no user accounts and cannot link anonymous analytics events to specific individuals without additional information from you.
8. Children's Data
PriceStory is not directed at children under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us at hello@pricestory.in and we will delete it promptly.
9. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. All connections to PriceStory are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of PriceStory after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
